Transformational Grant-Making

At SBSCF, we prioritise funding that has the potential to create meaningful and lasting change. We believe transformational grant-making amplifies the impact of our partners and leads to more sustainable outcomes for communities. We are particularly interested in initiatives that contribute to societal transformation. Rather than focusing solely on service delivery, we look for approaches that can reshape systems, influence attitudes, or deliver significant improvements for vulnerable groups.

Our Funding Priorities

1. Systemic Change

We support organisations that challenge the status quo and work to create lasting, structural improvements. This includes initiatives that:

Shift public attitudes
Influence policy or practice
Improve systems and processes
Use tools such as strategic litigation

Our aim is to fund work that improves outcomes for large numbers of people, not just individuals.

2. Pump Priming & Organisational Development

We are keen to support small or emerging organisations, particularly those that:

Address unmet needs or underserved communities
Take innovative or non-traditional approaches
Show strong potential to scale and deepen their impact

Where these criteria are met, our funding can help organisations to grow and strengthen their capacity. This might include:

Expanding into new locations
Diversifying and increasing income streams
Improving monitoring and evaluation
Strengthening their influence within the sector

We also value organisations that demonstrate potential to contribute to wider systemic change over time.

3. Piloting New Ideas

We fund organisations of all sizes that are testing innovative approaches with the potential to transform lives and influence wider society. We are particularly interested in initiatives that:

Can be scaled or replicated
Generate valuable shared learning
Address clearly defined and unmet needs

Our focus is on supporting social innovation that delivers both immediate impact and long-term change.
