Who We Support

The Foundation supports organisations working with communities and groups experiencing vulnerability. This may be due to physical characteristics—such as disability—or social exclusion, including groups such as refugees and asylum seekers.

We recognise that many individuals face disadvantage because they lack access to rights, resources, and opportunities—often as a result of systemic failures. These inequalities can increase exposure to harm while limiting access to the support needed to address it. We aim to fund organisations that tackle these challenges and help create more equitable outcomes.

Our Funding Approach

We offer both core funding and project funding, working closely with our partners to understand their specific needs and priorities.

Typical grant size: £40,000 to £60,000
(Occasionally higher for established, trusted partners)
Funding duration:
- New partners: usually 1–2 years
- Established partnerships: typically multi-year funding (around 3 years)

We are committed to building long-term relationships. Renewal funding may be offered where:

A strong partnership has been established
The organisation continues to meet our funding criteria
We are confident in the organisation’s effectiveness, governance, and impact

Our goal is to provide flexible, sustained support that helps organisations grow, strengthen their impact, and deliver lasting change.

THEMATIC AREAS

The Foundation is open to supporting a wide range of issues.

Currently, most UK grants fall into the following categories:

Refugees, Asylum Seekers and other Migrants

The Foundation has developed a diverse portfolio within this sector, with a strong focus on improving access to justice for those who need it most.

We are particularly interested in funding initiatives that drive wider systemic change. This includes work that:

Influences policy and legal frameworks
Uses strategic litigation or judicial reviews
Removes barriers to justice for vulnerable groups

Promoting Access to Justice

The Foundation is actively exploring ways to improve access to justice for vulnerable groups through the development and testing of alternative legal access models.

We are particularly interested in initiatives that:

Pilot innovative approaches to delivering legal support
Improve accessibility and outcomes for underserved communities
Generate strong evidence through robust evaluation

Preventing Violence and Abuse

The Foundation is committed to ensuring that people in vulnerable communities can access the support they need to prevent and overcome violence.

We prioritise funding for organisations that:

Provide specialist services for minoritised communities
Address issues such as illegal cultural harms
Deliver tailored, culturally informed support to those at risk

We are also keen to improve access to legal support for individuals experiencing abuse or violence, enabling them to understand, assert, and defend their rights.

Our aim is to support services that not only respond to immediate harm but also empower individuals and contribute to longer-term safety and justice.
